As mentioned in a previous article, the recent round of national bargaining resulted in a contract being imposed by Congress which includes general wage increases for 2020-2024 totaling 22%. Despite the fact our KCS members fall under four separate agreements, all receive their GWI’s under the terms of the National Agreement. Therefore, the committee maintains a single document to reflect the pay rates of all four. This document is published on our website under the “rates of pay” tab in the member resources area.
We are working with the KCS Labor Relations team to confirm the appropriate rates are reflected on the KCS pay rate sheet. While the complete document can be found on our website, some examples of the rate changes include the following:
KCS signalmen will immediately have their rate increased from $33.12 to $37.77 and will conclude the term (2024) at $41.05. The Signal Maintainer rate will for KCS members will immediately increase from $7091.35 to $8088.91 and will conclude the term at $8791.03. Inspectors on the KCS will immediately go from $7229.43 monthly to $8246.42 and will end the term at $8962.21.
Tex-Mex maintainers will receive an immediate increase from $35.16 hourly to $40.10. This rate will be $43.58 at the conclusion of the agreement.
On the GWWR, the signal maintainer rate, currently at $33.74, will be immediately adjusted to $38.49 and conclude the term at $41.83. GWWR inspectors will see their rate immediately rise from $34.58 hourly to $39.45 and end the term at $42.88.
And finally, on the MidSouth, traveling signal maintainers will have their rate immediately increased from $7022.82 to $8010.74. This rate will be $8706.07 at the end of the term of the agreement. The MidSouth inspector rate will go from $7160.87 to $8168.22 immediately and will conclude the term at a rate of $8877.22 per month.
