  • BNSF Foreman Hourly Conversion 1/1/23
    Posted On: Dec 27, 2022

After many months of negotiations, and a few years of grievances for underpaid foremen, an agreement was reached to convert Signal Construction Foremen to an hourly rate.

This conversion goes into effect on January 1, 2023, and there a few items all should be aware of.  The hourly rate as of 1/1/23 will be $41.46 and will apply to Signal Construction Foremen only.  Foremen will continue to input eight hours of protect pay on Saturdays, in accordance with historical practices.

Due to the hourly rate conversion, Foremen will now have their overtime computed using the actual hourly rate instead of the pro rata rate listed in Appendix L, which is a benefit.  Additionally, all other agreement provisions applicable to hourly rated employees will also apply to Signal Construction Foremen.  This will create parity on signal crews where items such as holiday pay, holiday qualifying, standby compensation, etc. are concerned.  At the conclusion of 2023, should the BRS decide to revert to the monthly rate, we will have a one-time option to do so.  Foremen – please ensure your rates are properly adjusted to the hourly rate of $41.46 in January.
