We have now had three mediation sessions with the CPKC, facilitated by NMB Mediator Bjarne Henderson. Our first was held April 20-22 followed by a three-day session in Chicago from May 12-14, and yet another from July 6-8. During the lapse in meetings since our last session, the parties have exchanged proposals electronically on many of the outstanding issues.
We look forward to our next mediation session on October 21-22, which will once again be in Chicago under the direction of Mediator Henderson.
As noted in a previous article, CPKC recently announced what it described as “industry-leading” earnings. Given those results, the Carrier can afford to match the wages paid by other Class I railroads.We intend to remain at the bargaining table for as long as necessary to secure a ratifiable agreement that addresses the needs of BRS members.
